Eastern Health Pathology has an excellent reputation for training in Anatomical Pathology. Anatomical Pathology services are provided to Box Hill Hospital, Maroondah Hospital and Angliss Hospitals but all training is performed at Box Hill Hospital.  Currently there are three full-time anatomical pathologists and a further four part-time pathologists providing a comprehensive service in anatomical pathology except for autopsy pathology.  Training in all facets of diagnostic anatomical pathology is provided except CNS pathology and gynaecological cytopathology.

We provide an extensive teaching program with multiple dedicated teaching sessions each week and all registrars are involved in all the routine procedures within the department including surgical cut-up, biopsy reporting, attendance at fine needle aspirates and clinical meetings. There is also a formal weekly journal club at which all registrars are expected to present.

We currently have positions for three full time registrars and in the past have been able to offer part time training and job sharing arrangements where possible.

All applications for training in Anatomical Pathology must be made through the Victorian teaching program of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia but potential registrars should also contact Eastern Health Pathology directly if interested in training at our laboratory.
