What you need to know

  • Interns have a range of core rotations to choose from for a great start to their Medical Career at Eastern Health
  • Intern applications open on the 6th of May 2025
  • Prospective Interns must preference Health Services in their PMCV application for the Optimised Ballot for 2026 (G1 – G3 eligibility)
  • Application to the PMCV for the Merit based process for 2026 (G4 Eligibility)
  • Prospective Interns must accept offers within 24 to 48 hours
  • An orientation program is offered in January 2026 including shadowing shifts with our clinical teams
  • Medical Education is provided throughout the year by our experienced Medical Education Officers and Supervisors of Training·

Intern to Intern Forum

We’re excited to invite you to our Intern-to-Intern Forum — a relaxed and informative space for incoming interns to connect with current Eastern Health Interns and HMOs directly. This will take place at the end of the formal Intern Information Session.

Wondering what a typical day looks like? Keen to hear tips for starting out? Have questions about rotations, support, or hospital life?

This is your chance to ask! Simply pop your questions in the chat — our current Intern team will be answering them in a dedicated Q&A session at the end. It’s a great way to hear real insights and get a feel for what to expect as you begin your journey with Eastern Health.

We provide ‘postgraduate year 1’ (PGY1) doctors with a caring recruitment and onboarding experience and a well-structured and highly supportive teaching, training, and clinical capabilities.

The friendly environment offered by Eastern Health provides a supportive introduction to your medical career.

Interns will have the opportunity to experience acute, sub-acute, mental health, rural hospital rotations.
