Eastern Health welcomes interest and applications from International Medical Graduates seeking to gain valuable experience in the Australian medical system, by undertaking positions in our health service for a period of 12, 18 or 24 months.

Applications are welcome from doctors eligible for registration under the Competent Pathway (having completed relevant Foundation year/s), Monash Malaysian graduates as well as doctors eligible for the Standard Pathway who have successfully completed both AMC MCQ and Clinical exams.

Our HMO positions are suitable for doctors working from Level 2 Supervision under AHPRA guidelines.

Rotations may include Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Plastics, Aged Care, Rehabilitation, along with traditional streams in General Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine and in our Mental Health and Wellbeing Program including community and inpatient settings.  All HMOs will participate in the weekday and weekend rotations along with a share in night/relieving roster.

Junior medical staff at Eastern Health are supported in a stimulating workplace with opportunity for education and ongoing supervision. Our excellent Postgraduate Medical Education Unit is headed by a Director and supported by four site based Supervisors of Junior Doctor Training, two Medical Education Officers and an Administrative assistant. The Unit provides both an intern and HMO education program, and includes a junior doctor podcast, grand rounds and unit specific education. Individual hospital units additionally run supportive education sessions.
