How do I start using Workplace?
Claim your account
This is as simple as logging into your account using your Eastern Health email address and regular Eastern Health password. There are two ways to do this:
- Follow this link https://easternhealth.workplace.com and follow the prompts to log in
or
- Download the Workplace and Work Chat apps from the App Store,Google Play or preferred app store and log in from there.
Note: To install these apps you will need to have either Apple iOS 10.0 or later or Android 8.0+. Instructions on updating your mobile can be found in the Workplace 101 Group.
Having the Workplace and Work Chat apps allows you to stay connected and collaborate and engage with your team and colleagues more easily no matter where you are or what device you are using.
Your Eastern Health / Turning Point email address should be in the following format firstname.surname@easternhealth.org.au / firstname.surname@turningpoint.org.au
You may have received an email and claimed your account through that directly. If so, you simply need to download the app on your mobile device and log in to continue using Workplace.
Let’s get started
So I'm logged in, what now?
Before doing anything else, please take the next five minutes to:
- Set up your profile, to make it easy for colleagues to find and connect with you
- Update your notification settings, to manage your email inbox
- Download the Workplace and Work Chat app to your mobile (if not done so already)
- Join Groups, follow colleagues and visit the Workplace 101 group where you will find more hints and tips on using Workplace.

My profile
There are three key pieces of information you will need to select from the drop down menus, your Location (This is the site you work at most), your Department (Program) and your Division (Directorate)
To update your profile from your computer 💻
1. Open Workplace
2. Click on your profile (bottom left corner of the screen) and then click View Profile
3. Click on About
4. Click on + Add Location
5. Repeat this process for Department and Division
To update your profile from your mobile device📲
1. Open Workplace
2. Click on your profile (top left corner of the screen) and then click Go to Profile (for Apple) or View Profile (for Android)
3. Tap on Edit
4. Tap on + Add Location
5. Repeat this process for Department and Division
Whilst the above fields are mandatory, please feel free to add as much or as little other information as you like. You can also upload a profile photo and cover photo if you wish.
Manage your Notifications
We recommend turning off email notifications for your Workplace account to avoid an influx of emails.
To do this from your computer 💻
1) Click the notification icon 🔔
2) Click the Settings icon ⚙️ and select All Notification Settings
3) Under email change the setting to “Only about your account”
To turn off notifications from your mobile device📲 (Apple or Android)
- Tap the three line Menu icon
- Tap ⚙️ Settings & Privacy (Help & Settings on Android) > 🔔 Notification Settings
- Under "Where you receive notifications" tap ✉️ Email.
- Change this setting to “Only about your account” A tick ☑️will appear beside the option you've selected.
What are Groups?
Groups are what drive connections in Workplace.
Workplace Groups are where you share and receive information. A workplace Group is where you can update and share information with your team or with a larger group. Groups are what dictates your news feed to tailor content to you.
There are various types of Groups that can be created in Workplace with each Group categorised by privacy and posting permissions. These are determined on the group’s purpose.
Groups are categorised as follows:
- Open (default) - meaning everyone at Eastern Health is automatically a member and can see all posts, comments and reactions.
- Open: meaning anyone (at Eastern Health) can access the group and its content.
- Closed: meaning you can find the group, but you need to request or be invited to join in order to see content.
- Secret: meaning it’s a private group that has only set members.
Upon activating your Workplace account, by default you will be automatically added to the Eastern Health News Room group and the Coronavirus (COVID-19) staff information group.
You can then choose other groups you may like to join.
To join a Group
- From home navigation, click Groups
- Navigate to or search for a Group you wish to join
- Click on the Group title and click Join under the cover photo to the right of the screen
- Depending on the Group privacy settings, you will either be automatically added or will need to wait for your request to Join to be approved by the Group admin.
From time to time you may be invited to join a group. You will receive an email invitation from the groups Admin or moderators.
Work Chat
The Workplace Chat app lets you:
- Receive notifications directly to the app
- Have video or audio-only calls
- Share your screen during calls
- Have a chat with 1 person or a group
Work Chat is a great way to communicate with people. You can download the Work Chat app from the App Store or Google Play or use it via your web browser.
Use Work Chat when you need a quick back-and-forth with colleagues that would otherwise clutter your group page or your email inbox. Chats are best in situations when you need an answer fast, or when you're just chatting back and forth with your colleagues.
How to use Work Chat
Simply search 🔎 for the person you want to chat with from the Chats pop up in the bottom right corner of your browser. Then just type your message, hit reply and wait for them to respond. It's that easy!
The same applies in the Work Chat App.
Once you've downloaded it, just search 🔎 for the person you want to chat to, type them a message and click send.
