There has been a recent update to the Pandemic order which was provided late on 10 February. The latest advice states:
The 12 February 2022 deadline for eligible healthcare workers to have received their COVID-19 third dose vaccination has been extended by 4 weeks. By 12 March 2022, eligible healthcare workers will need to provide evidence of their COVID-19 third dose vaccination. Any of those workers who have not received a third dose by 12 February 2022, must, by 12 February 2022, provide evidence of a booking to receive their COVID-19 third dose by 12 March 2022, otherwise, they cannot work.
That is, while there is a four-week extension to have received your third dose of the vaccination, evidence of your vaccination booking is still required by the 12 February. Evidence of your booking must be provided to your manager. If you have booked an appointment at an Eastern Health site, you will have received an email at the time of your booking which can be used as evidence.
On 10 January 2022, a new Pandemic Order was made requiring Victorian healthcare workers to receive a COVID-19 third dose, recognising the critical role that vaccination plays in the safety of both the healthcare workforce and patients. Third doses are of particular importance when considering the emergence of variants such as Omicron. The Order takes effect on Wednesday 12 January 2022 at 11.59pm. Currently ATAGI recommends booster or third doses at 3 months post your 2nd dose.
This applies to all Eastern Health staff, students and contractors. What this means for us, is that Healthcare workers eligible to receive an additional COVID-19 vaccine by 12 January 2022 are required to receive a COVID-19 third dose vaccine by 12 February 2022.
Healthcare workers not yet eligible to receive an additional COVID-19 vaccine by 12 January 2022 are required to receive their COVID-19 third dose vaccine by 29 March 2022.
However, we encourage everyone to get your booster as soon as you are eligible and help protect yourself, your family and your patients.
