Parking and Public Transport
Car parking, including disabled parking, is available in the Building A’s basement car parks (accessible from Rodgerson Road) for which a fee is charged. Short term/emergency drop off parking is available at the front of the emergency department and a drop off only area is available at the Building A entrance. Drop off for Specialist Clinics (Outpatients) is at Building B, Nelson Road, Box Hill.
Restricted 2 hour metered street parking is available in streets surrounding the hospital.
Please note that failure to observe parking restrictions on the hospital grounds and surrounding streets may result in a parking infringement notice being issued by the local council.

Eastern Health offers Concession Car parking at a discounted rate for holders of eligible concession cards.
How am I eligible?
I am a holder of either a:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Veteran Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Centrelink Healthcare Card
- Veterans Affairs Gold Card (All, War Widow, TPI,POW,& EDA)
The concession rate is only available to those attending Eastern Health sites as a visitor or patient.
The concession card must be in the name of the person requesting the concession rate and can provide photographic identification to confirm eligibility.
What do I need to do?
Present your card and ticket to Main Reception between 7.00am and 8.00pm
What is the daily parking fee?
$ 10.00
Eastern Health recognises there are occasions where a patient or their immediate family members do not hold a concession card but may be experiencing financial hardship due to their situation.
In these circumstances a discounted daily car parking rate may be available for the patient and up to two guardians/significant others.
How am I eligible?
- I will be attending EH as a patient three or more times a week
- I am a legal guardian or significant other of an admitted patient and will be required to attend three or more times a week as part of their care plan
- Discounted parking Vouchers are valid for 1 month from application date
What do I need to do?
- Obtain a Voucher for Discounted Car Parking from Main Reception.
- Have the voucher authorised by either a:
- Nurse Unit Manger/ Associate Unit Manager
- Or Social Worker
- Submit the voucher to Main Reception with your ticket.

Box Hill hospital map – walk, cycle, tram, train, bus
Box Hill train station on the Lilydale / Belgrave line is the closest train station to Box Hill Hospital and is within 5 minutes walk to the hospital.
Bus service nos 302 City – Box Hill via Belmore Road; 202 East Kew – Box Hill via Belmore Road; and 612 Box Hill – Chadstone via Surrey Hills, Camberwell and Glen Iris stop in front of the hospital along Nelson Road.
Tram service no.109 stops along Whitehorse Road and is 5 minutes walk to the hospital.
Public transport timetables via Public Transport Victoria
Taxi drop off and pick up is available at the main entrance of Building A, Building B and emergency department. Taxi booking phones are available at these three locations. A taxi phone is also located in the foyer of Upton House.
Most patients coming to Box Hill Hospital will have the option of using the Patient Entertainment System which provides television, radio, movie channels, local telephone services and internet access via a touch screen at the bedside.
These facilities are also available in a number of languages other than English. Charges apply* for the use of the Patient Entertainment System in accordance with similar facilities offered at other public hospitals.
Payment can be made by entering credit or debit card details directly on the touch screen system.
Patients are also able to make food selections on the touch screen – this facility is free of charge.
Patients are advised to bring their own headphones to use in hospital or they can be purchased from the Zouki cafeteria on Level 1 in Building B. (*Some exclusions apply – please ask your nurse for details.)
