The Eastern Health Graduate Registered Nurse and Midwife Program is progressive, responsive and innovative. We offer over 200 positions across our health service to graduates in three intakes – January, March & July.

Honours

We are very supportive of graduates who wish to complete Honours whilst participating in the Graduate Program. We have a partnership with Deakin University for the Honours program and we also support students who wish to complete Honours with other Universities.

There is a two step process for our 2024 Graduate (Registered) Nursing and Midwifery program:

  1. List your preferred Eastern Health Pathway/s (you may list multiple) as one of your preferences via Allocation Placement Services www.gnmp.pmcv.com.au
  2. All applications must be received online via Eastern Health EH-Mercury (under Nursing Professional Opportunities) and linked to the job advertisement.

Please note: There have been recent changes to the eligibility criteria for the Allocation Placement Service matching process  – Australian Trained Temporary Residents (ATTR) also known as international candidates can participate.

Enrolled Nurse Program

Program Overview

Eastern Health are pleased to offer a Graduate Enrolled Nursing Program. This program will offer a welcoming and responsive environment to support newly graduated ENs in their transition from student to EN.

The Enrolled Nurse Graduate Program is 12 months at 0.8EFT (8 shifts per fortnight).  For those studying a Bachelor of Nursing during the graduate program, the program is 18 months’ durations at 0.6 (6 shifts per fortnight) EFT.

Eastern Health has 2 pathways on offer for Graduates:

General Nursing (Aged medicine, acute and residential aged care rotations)

Mental Health (Adult and Adolescent Inpatient Units, AOD unit rotations)

Early Career Nurse Program (ECN)

The Early Career Nurse and Early Career Midwife Programs (ECN/M) enables recently qualified Registered Nurses and/or Midwives who have not undertaken a Graduate Program an opportunity to enter the Eastern Health nursing and midwifery workforce in a supported program.

Registered Nurses and Midwives who are eligible for this program meet all three of the following criteria:

  • You have qualified and registered with AHPRA in the last 3 years and have been working on a fixed term, part time or full time basis.
  • You have not been accepted into and commenced a formal Graduate Nurse/Midwifery Program.
  • You will have full working rights in Australia at the commencement of the ECN program.

Acute experience is viewed favourably but not essential. Perhaps you have been working in subacute, aged care, primary care or doing some agency nursing – we can offer you a supported pathway into nursing and/or midwifery at Eastern Health.

You will benefit from a structured, comprehensive induction program, regular study days, clinical assessments and regular feedback.

The Early Career Nurse/ Midwife programs will commence in March, July or September .
