Eastern Health Box Hill runs a clinic for the assessment investigation and treatment for a range of arterial and vascular disease, especially aneurysms, carotid disease and lower limb ischaemia.

This includes what investigations you need to perform prior to referring to a specialist and what information you need to include in the referral. For conditions listed below, referrals should meet the Statewide Referral Criteria for Specialist Clinics:
- Aortic aneurysm
- Note: Referrals for dilation of ascending aorta should be directed to Cardiology
- Carotid artery disease
- Deep vein thrombosis
- High-risk foot ulcers
- Non-healing or chronic lower leg ulcers
- Varicose Veins
- At Eastern Health, only CEAP classification of C5 and C6 are accepted.
For all other Vascular conditions, please continue to refer as per clinical assessment and need.

If your patient’s condition deteriorates, please send an updated referral via HealthLink SmartForms selecting the Referral Continuation “Amended referral/update previously sent referral” with additional clinical information.
Emergency cases should be sent to the Emergency Department.
