For conditions listed below, referrals should meet the Statewide Referral Criteria for Specialist Clinics:

  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • Chronic refractory constipation
  • Chronic refractory diarrhoea
  • Cirrhosis
  • Coeliac disease
  • Constipation with sentinel findings
  • Diarrhoea with sentinel findings
  • Dysphagia (gastroenterology)
  • Dysphagia – diagnostic gastroscopy
    • Presently, Eastern Health does not have capacity for direct access to endoscopy service for the above condition. Please refer patients to Dysphagia (gastroenterology).
  • Gastroesophageal reflux
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis C
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Persistent iron deficiency
  • Positive faecal occult blood test (FOBT) – diagnostic colonoscopy
    •  Presently, Eastern Health does not have capacity for direct access to endoscopy service for the above condition. Please refer patients to Rectal bleeding.
  • Rectal bleeding
