Eastern Health offers this clinic at Eastern Health Box Hill.
Any adult patient with:
- Recent onset of episodes which are suspected to be seizures; OR
- A diagnosis of epilepsy or long standing episodes suspected to be seizures.
Information to be included in the referral:
- Onset, characteristics and frequency of seizures.
- If the patient is pregnant.
Provide if available:
- Electroencephalogram results.
- Neuroimaging results.
- Current and complete medication history and recent therapeutic medication levels.
Referral to this clinic is not appropriate for:
- Children below 15 years of age (refer to Paediatric Medicine).
- Patients with well controlled, long standing epilepsy without complications or current management issues (including an established diagnosis of Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizure).
- Neurological deficits where an alternate diagnosis is more likely such as transient ischaemic attack or transient global amnesia.
- Can access alternative service, such as private, funded or other (local) heath service.

If your patient’s condition deteriorates, please send an updated referral via HealthLink SmartForms selecting the Referral Continuation “Amended referral/update previously sent referral” with additional clinical information.
Emergency cases should be sent to the Emergency Department.
