Eastern Health Day Oncology and Medical Units, often referred to as DOMUs, are where patients attend to receive anti-cancer treatment. Each DOMU consists of a team of highly specialised and passionate cancer nurses who provide their patients with excellent care and support.
Day Oncology and Medical Unit locations:
- Eastern Health Box Hill
- Eastern Health Maroondah
- Eastern Health Lilydale
We support patients in a number of ways, this includes but not limited to;
- Ongoing patient education
- Side effect management
- Referrals to supportive services
- Specialist nursing assessments
- Medicare card
- Up to date medication list
- Recent blood results (If available)
Everyone’s experience with anti-cancer treatment is different, but it is not uncommon to have one or more side-effects throughout your treatment. If you experience significant side effects or concerned in any way, please inform your nurse as a medical review may be required.
Eastern Health also provides support for patients receiving cancer treatment with nurse-led clinics called a Symptom and Urgent Review Clinic (SURC). More information regarding SURC
The Day Oncology and Medical Units are open for appointments only and do not have the ability to manage ‘walk-ins’.
