Eastern Health Stroke Unit

Eastern Health Box Hill remains the most efficient stroke service in Australia, achieving the fastest acute stroke treatment times nationally, since 2020 (Australian Stroke Clinical Registry) and is provides care to the third largest number of patients in Victoria.

The hospital was among the top two recruiting sites globally for two landmark stroke trials—TEMPO2 and TASTE—which are reshaping acute stroke treatment protocols.

Eastern Health Oncology

Eastern Health provides tertiary oncology services across multiple campuses and via the Hospital In The Home-Oncology program. Core tumour streams include breast, Central Nervous System, colorectal, gynaecological, lung, melanoma, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary cancers.

Dedicated clinical nurse consultants support major tumour streams. Research is conducted in partnership with the Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University.

Eastern Health Surgery

The Surgery and Anaesthetics (S&A) program is the second largest publicly funded surgical service in Victoria.

Surgical care includes both elective and emergency procedures, delivered across a range of settings including operating theatres, endoscopy suites, inpatient wards, and specialist outpatient clinics. These services are provided across six campuses within Eastern Health.

Turning Point

Turning Point is Victoria’s Centre of Excellence in Addiction and the Australia’s leading hub for clinical services, research, policy, and education in the alcohol, other drug (AOD), and gambling sectors.

Through an integrated platform of care, knowledge, and capability-building, Turning Point plays a central role in transforming Australia’s addiction response — reducing harm, driving innovation, and supporting the delivery of a more connected, effective, and sustainable health system.

Recognised internationally for its impact, Eastern Health has been ranked as the highest-rated Australian hospital and the second-highest Australian research organisation by the Times Higher Education global rankings, placing 36th among all non-university and non-commercial research organisations worldwide (2018).

Thanks to the Eastern Health Foundation and generous donors, a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scanner (pictured top right) is helping thousands each year by providing detailed images for accurate diagnoses and more effective treatment.
