- Participants attend a 1:1 appointment in person at Healesville or Yarra Junction sites or online with a physiotherapist
- Participants attend twice a week for eight weeks. Each group session consists of one hour of tailored exercise, supervised by a physiotherapist.
- Patients with any cancer and at various stages of treatment are welcome
- Sessions are provided online in a supportive group environment. Our therapists are based at Healesville Hospital and Yarra Valley Health
- This is a client centered program where clients, carers and families are supported to achieve their rehabilitation goals
- Occupational therapy, dietitian and counselling support also available
- The client receives care via Eastern Health Cancer Services or resides in eastern suburbs of Melbourne within the Eastern Health catchment area
- Has a primary diagnosis of cancer
- Aged 18 years and over
- Current physical status allows for participation in the exercise component of the program
- Cognitive status allows for participation in telehealth with or without support of a carer
- The client is at low risk of falls
- The client has access to own computer or mobile device and reliable internet
- Cost $5 per session (This cost can be discussed in the case of financial hardship)
Frequently Asked Questions
The physiotherapist will provide you with instructions and orientate you to the platform at your first appointment. If you are still not confident or having trouble, you may consider attending our in person cancer rehabilitation program at Wantirna Health or check out one of our other in-person exercise groups run at Healesville
On completion of the program, all participants are provided with a plan, after a discussion with the rehabilitation team. Plans may include the more social goals, such as joining a new club, or the more physical such as joining a gym or walking group.
