Privacy Awareness Week

Back to basics: Your privacy obligations

When privacy is handled poorly, it can cause considerable harm to individuals and organisations. Every individual at Eastern Health has a role to play in protecting privacy – from our front line staff, to our executives.

Access to patient information is a privilege, not a right.

Eastern Health have a number of policies and guidelines that apply to protect our patients’ privacy. This is also covered in the Eastern Health Code of Conduct that applies to all staff.

Not adhering to our privacy policies and/or guidelines could result in a range of outcomes, including losing access to our electronic medical records, disciplinary action and referral to AHPRA.
