Eastern Health is fortunate to have a team of dedicated volunteers that assist in enhancing the patient experience and in doing so, help maintain vital links to our community. With a diversity of volunteer roles, volunteers are able to provide support that makes a real difference to our patients, their families and carers and our staff.
Eastern Health sites include Angliss Hospital, Blackburn Public Surgical Centre, Box Hill Hospital, Healesville Hospital and Yarra Valley Health, Maroondah Hospital, Peter James Centre, Spectrum, Turning Point, Wantirna Health and Yarra Ranges Health.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities are now available.
All Eastern Health volunteers must be over the age of 18 years. Applicants will be required to attend an interview held at an Eastern Health site. Should your application be successful, you will be required to:
- Complete an online police check and sign a Statutory Declaration
- Provide evidence of vaccinations as required
- Provide a copy of a Working With Children Check (some roles only)
- Attend a local induction and orientation
- Complete all required mandatory online training prior to commencement
- Comply with all Eastern Health policies and protocols when attending Eastern Health sites
- Adhere to Eastern Health procedures and training requirements
- Attend a 3-4 hour shift weekly or fortnightly

- Work within strict professional boundaries
- Respect patients’ and families’ privacy and confidentiality
- Work as part of a team
- Wear hospital identification when entering the site and while on duty

- Maintain standards of safety and infection control (wear appropriate PPE as required including N95 Mask)
- Complete annual mandatory online refresher training
Short term volunteer roles
Eastern Health Volunteer Services is unable to offer short term, work experience or placement positions.
Pet Therapy volunteers are provided by registered Pet Therapy organisations. Eastern Health has arrangements with Lort Smith and Delta Dogs and will only be able to engage volunteers who are registered with these organisations. Applicants interested in becoming a Pet Therapy volunteer should contact these organisations directly.
