Eastern Health Pathology operates Core Laboratories (Biochemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, Transfusion Medicine, Flow Cytometry) at Box Hill, Maroondah and Angliss hospitals.

Opening Hours

Box Hill: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Maroondah: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Angliss: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Flow Cytometry services are only available 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

Range of Services - Diagnostic

Our laboratories provide a wide range of Pathology testing and services.  A comprehensive list of tests can be found in the online Pathology Handbook, covering :

•   specimens required
•   special collection instructions (with patient information sheets where applicable)
•   frequency of testing
•   reference ranges
•   other pertinent information such as the cost of non-Medicare rebatable tests

Most tests are completed on the day of collection, and we endeavour to complete urgent samples within an hour of receipt in the laboratory.   

Range of Services – Research

Eastern Health Pathology can provide a comprehensive testing service for research programs and trials.  The cost of this service is based on the tests involved, length of the trial, and other services which may be required, such as long term frozen storage of samples etc.  Please contact the Box Hill laboratory for further information.

If you need help interpreting Pathology tests, you can contact one of our Consultants for assistance.

Alternatively, Lab Tests Online is a web-based resource managed by the AACB in conjunction with the RCPA which can give you information about any Pathology test.
