Angliss Hospital is one of the only two hospitals in Melbourne that provide baby's cord and placental blood donation facilities. The BMDI Cord Blood Bank is part of a network of worldwide public registries that can be accessed and used for treating patients anywhere in the world.
The donation of your baby's cord blood can save the life of a child or an adult suffering from leukaemia or other red blood cell disorders.
Determining whether women are suitable to donate their baby's cord blood only takes a short time and it is at no cost.
Information and enrolment forms are included in the maternity packs women receive when booking to have their baby. These forms are also available at Box Hill Hospital, the antenatal clinic at the Yarra Ranges and Angliss hospitals.
