Children’s Occupational Therapy

The Occupational Therapist works together with children and their families to address developmental concerns in the areas of gross motor, fine motor and sensory processing.

The Occupational Therapist works with children aged from 3 years of age, up to Grade 3.

Reasons for referrals may include:

  • Clumsiness or coordination difficulties
  • Sensory seeking or sensitivities to touch, movement, sound or vision etc
  • Difficulties using playground equipment
  • Difficulty using children's tools (pencils, scissors, cutlery)
  • Difficulty with organisation and dressing
  • Difficulties with fine and gross motor skill development.

No you don't need a doctor's referral, you can self refer to all of the community health services at Healesville Hospital and Yarra Valley Health.

The Department of health prescribes the Community Health fees. The level of fees payable is dependent on the client’s income and whether the client has a concession card. Current fees (July 2016) are: There is no cost for children from low income families (includes HCC holders), $10 for middle income earners, $93.80 for high income earners.
