Carer Peer Support
Carer Peer Workers have a lived experience of caring for someone with mental ill health and are trained in the model of Intentional Peer Support to share knowledge, skills, and explore strategies to assist carers in their journey of support Carer peer workers provide a safe environment which is supportive and where carers and families have the opportunity to talk about things that are important to them.
We understand everyone is unique. As such, we support families and carers by connecting with them respectfully to identify their individual needs and perspectives and promote wellbeing.
Carer Peer Support Worker in PARC
These peer support roles have been developed specifically to establish peer connection with family & carers of people accessing the Prevention and Recovery Care Unit (PARC). The role is based at PARC and is both part of the PARC clinical in-reach team as well as part of the broader lived experience workforce team.
The roles draw on mutuality and knowledge of lived experience to support recovery and wellbeing; provide information about community networks and support for consumers to re-engage with the community, and enhance connections between consumers, carers and families.
