Eastern Health has applied for an extension of time to upload pathology reports to My Health Record. This application is currently being assessed by the Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA).

During this period, some pathology reports may not be uploaded to My Health Record. Your results will continue to be sent to your requesting or treating doctor as normal.

If you would like more information, please speak to staff.

Getting Your Results

Once your pathology test has been completed, we understand it’s natural to want your results as soon as possible.

The best person to speak to about your results is your requesting doctor. They know your medical history, understand why the test was ordered, and can explain what the results mean for your health. Each doctor follows their own process for releasing results, so it’s best to contact them directly.

To protect your privacy and meet legal requirements, we’re unable to release results directly to patients.
If you’d like a copy, your doctor or healthcare provider can request this on your behalf during your appointment.

My Health Record is a national digital health record that gives you and your healthcare providers secure access to a summary of your health information – including pathology results – in one place.

If you have a My Health Record, pathology reports from Eastern Health may be available there once your results are finalised.

Having your results in My Health Record can help your care team in a number of ways:

  • Your test history is available in one place, even if you see multiple providers
  • Clinicians treating you for the first time can see relevant results without needing to reorder tests
  • Changes in your results can be tracked over time to support ongoing care decisions

To access your My Health Record, log in through your myGov account at my.gov.au. If you are not yet registered, visit www.digitalhealth.gov.au or call the My Health Record Helpline on 1800 723 471.

For My Health Record enquiries at Eastern Health, contact us at MyHealthRecord@easternhealth.org.au.

Only healthcare providers directly involved in your care can access your results.
We are required by law to protect your personal health information and will never share your results with family, employers, or insurers without your consent.

There are rare situations where we must release results:

  • If required by law or court order
  • If the results relate to a notifiable disease such as COVID-19, hepatitis, or measles
  • If the results involve a newly diagnosed cancer, which must be reported to a national cancer registry
