Eastern Health humbly acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Owners of the land on which our services operate.
Wurundjeri Week is an important time for us to honour and celebrate the Wurundjeri People — known as the Witchetty Grub People — whose name in the Woi-wurrung language reflects the manna gum (wurun) and its associated grub (djeri) growing along Birrarung (Yarra River).

We value our ongoing partnership with the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation and the Wandoon Estate Aboriginal Corporation. These relationships have deepened our cultural understanding and informed initiatives including the naming of murrenda at Wantirna and nangnak warr bagora at Healesville.During Wurundjeri Week 2025, we reflect on the resilience and knowledge of the Wurundjeri ancestors and their enduring connection to Country. We remain deeply grateful for the cultural art shared by Woi-wurrung and Yorta Yorta artist Simone Thomson, which continues to enrich our spaces.

Eastern Health remains committed to Closing the Health Gap, ensuring culturally safe healthcare and equitable health outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous communities.
