Wear it Purple Day 2026

“Visibility matters because it helps people feel seen, heard, and valued – especially during times of vulnerability.” 

Darce (He/Him), Spiritual Care Practitioner at Eastern Health, who is also a Non-Binary Transman understands this more than most.  

“I have personally experienced how representation and visibility can foster a greater sense of safety, belonging, and trust.”  

Wear It Purple Day is an annual awareness campaign in support LGBTQIA+SB  youth.  

The 2026 theme for Wear It Purple Day is “Colours of courage”, celebrating the many different forms of courage shown by LGBTQIA+SB young people, allies and communities every day.  

“We need to remind children and young people that it is okay for them to be themselves. For us in our professional roles, it is important for us to be role models, I would like people to look at me and see that I am not afraid to be myself.”  

As an inclusive, safe and welcoming health service, Eastern Health strives to foster an environment where everyone can feel safe to express themselves.  

 “Often, it is the simple things that can help someone feel supported, such as using a person’s chosen name, offering a compassionate presence, or taking the time to listen without judgement; that has the greatest impact.”
