The Victorian Minister for Health has approved the voluntary amalgamation of Eastern Health and Alexandra District Health.
The voluntary amalgamation will create a more sustainable local health service in Alexandra and support more connected care across the rural-metropolitan catchment, building on an established partnership already benefiting local patients and staff.
Eastern Health and Alexandra District Health will begin planning to voluntarily amalgamate from 1 November 2026. Importantly, services, staffing and day-to-day operations continue as normal and there are no immediate changes.
The voluntary amalgamation will strengthen long-term sustainability, expand access to specialist services locally and support more integrated care closer to home.
