The Impact of Volunteers

Being a volunteer saved Mary’s life.

 

Mary is a Welcome Ambassador and dedicated volunteer at Eastern Health, but her connection runs much deeper.

 

Having faced her own health challenges, including bladder surgery and treatment for a heart murmur, which was picked up thanks to her time volunteering for Junior Doctors, Mary experienced the life‑changing care of Eastern Health firsthand.

 

Add to that the joy of welcoming four of her five children through our hospitals, it’s clear why Eastern Health holds a special place in her heart.

 

Today, Mary gives back through her volunteering work, by donating annually and has even included Eastern Health in her and her husband’s will. 

 

Her story is a powerful reminder of how care, compassion and community create lasting bonds. Thank you, Mary, for everything you do.
