The Eastern Health Stroke Team continues to strive for ongoing innovative methodology in action every day whilst delivering the timeliest care in the nation.
The Eastern Health Box Hill Stroke Team continues to have the fastest median door to needle time in Australia, sitting at mid-40 minutes, compared to mid-70 minutes nationally.
By the end of 2024, the team also saw the publication of two international, practice-changing Randomised Clinical Trials. Eastern Health Box Hill was one of the top enrolling sites for both studies.
The Stroke Team’s involvement in ongoing trials continues to help find ways to improve stroke care and most, if not all patients who present with acute stroke at our Box Hill campus in 2025 will be eligible for enrolment in a clinical trial.
Stroke Neurologist Philip Choi is proud of the work and progress made by his team and looks forward to helping further revolutionise stroke care in 2025.
“Everyone in the Stroke Team gives 100 percent and our achievements reflect that.
“It is important for a primary stroke centre like ours to be represented in these trials. We will start at least five new multi-centre international trials in 2025 which will help answer several big questions in stroke,” Dr Choi said.
