Eastern Health acknowledges that progress toward real reconciliation begins with recognition.
In alignment with the broader commitment to cultural safety and inclusion, Eastern Health has implemented initiatives such as the Aboriginal Cultural Safety Plan and the formation of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
Eastern Health supports those receiving care with the availability of Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officers, who provide a range of support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients within the hospital environment.
These efforts aim to ensure that the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are integral to the development and delivery of appropriate healthcare services. Through ongoing engagement and the acknowledgement of significant cultural events, Eastern Health strives to promote health equity and support the resilience of First Nations communities.
