A new mural by Wurundjeri Woiwurrung artist Lewis Wandin Bursill, has been unveiled in reception area of Eastern Health Maroondah.

This mural embeds Wurundjeri Woiwurrung perspectives, acknowledging partnerships and the ongoing relationship between people and place, and the importance of shared understandings when working within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health contexts.

The design is calming and restorative, creating a space that supports healing, reflection, and wellbeing. The installation is an extract from Lewis’ carved designs, including gentle flowing lines and culturally significant elements, to foster a sense of safety, belonging, and care for all visitors to Maroondah Hospital.

This artwork supports a culturally respectful environment that supports the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, while also inviting broader community connection through shared respect.
