This holiday season, Acting Associate Program Director, Adult Access Mental Health Services, Karen shares a reminder on the importance of looking after your physical and mental wellbeing.

“It can be stressful, lonely and overwhelming for some, and it’s important to take time for yourself and connect with supportive people. Remember that reaching out is a sign of strength.”

She assures the community that help is always available and encourages people to reach out for support if needed.

“If you or your loved ones need support, whether it’s for mental health or wellbeing advice, or just someone to talk to, we’re here. You’re not alone.”

Karen shares a few tips to make sure you can keep your mental health and wellbeing in check:

  • Keep your routine in mind. Try having regular sleep and stay hydrated.
  • Have balanced meals. Taking small steps like adding extra veggies to your plate can make a difference.
  • Pace yourself with food and alcohol. It’s okay to indulge but listen to your body.
  • Take breaks when you need them.
  • Stay active in fun ways to boost your mood and energy. Movement doesn’t have to be a chore. Take a short walk, go outside, take a breath and dance to some music.
