Victorian Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas visited the Eastern Health Blackburn Public Surgical Centre, meeting with both staff and consumers.

The facility reopened at the end of May 2024 following a refurbishment, and the beginning of 2025 marked the handover of two new theatres.

Now, with the additional two theatres, it is forecasted that the centre will perform approximately 300 planned surgical procedures per month.

Eastern Health Director of Operations, Surgery and Anaesthetics, Louisa Ford took Minister Thomas on a tour of the new surgical theatres and updated facilities. These offer a wide range of planned surgeries including general surgery, colorectal surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedics, Ear, Nose & Throat Oculoplastic surgery and vascular surgery.
