“Everything in moderation is my advice for staying healthy over the festive season.”
Nurse Unit Manager at the Specialty Medicine Unit at Eastern Health Maroondah, Arna Poci, shares her advice on how to stay healthy during the holidays.
The festive season is not only about celebration but also about care, connection and looking out for one another.
“On very hot days, make sure you keep hydrated, look out for our vulnerable and elderly communities, and check in on your neighbours.”
Arna also speaks proudly about her team, describing them as compassionate, caring and dedicated.
“We like to make sure those who are here during the holidays feel like they are still at home celebrating with family.”
Some ways to support your wellbeing and your community this festive season are to:
- Practice moderation with food, alcohol and activities.
- Keep hydrated during hot weather.
- Check in on elderly neighbours and vulnerable community members.
- Stay connected with those around you.
- Offer support to anyone who may be spending the holidays alone or in hospital.
Whether you are celebrating at home or supporting someone in hospital, taking a moment to check in on those around you helps everyone enjoy a safer and healthier holiday period.
