Eastern Health has recently launched three plans; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Framework and Plan, LGBTQIA+ Equity Action Plan and Disability Action Plan.

Through these plans, Eastern Health aims to continue our commitment to foster equity and inclusion, building a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

“The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan is a roadmap for action towards providing a culturally safe environment that recognises, responds and supports the diverse needs of our consumers and our workforce.”
Ged Millard, Executive Director Allied Health, Strategy and Improvement explains that the plan outlines the approach Eastern Health takes in creating a safe, welcoming, respectful, and inclusive service and workplace environment for all to thrive.

Irene Toh, Community Advisory Committee Member talks about how she is looking forward to an Eastern Health being more affirming, inclusive and supportive place for all; staff, patients and consumers alike.
“This action plan considers every part of the experience, from the moment you walk through the door to the care you receive.”
The LGBTQIA+ Action plan outlines how Eastern Health will work towards strengthening inclusion, equity and respect for LGBTQIA+ staff and consumers across the organisation.

“This Disability Action Plan is our way of saying: we see you, we hear you, and we’re here to make a difference.”
Working closely with people from the disability community and their carers to develop the plan, Christy Walsh, Disability Liaison Officer, states that the plan is a commitment to making Eastern Health services fairer, and breaks down barriers that people with disabilities face every day.
“It is about creating a health service where everyone feels valued, included, and supported—no matter their abilities.”
