Eastern Health is seeking to engage an Aboriginal Artist to commission two of murals at the Eastern Health Maroondah front entrance. This artwork is being funded through our Aboriginal Cultural Safety Plan 2024-2026 and is recognised as a key step towards ensuring the Eastern Health Maroondah front entrance is welcoming for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander patients.
The art needs to support a calm and welcoming entrance to Eastern Health Maroondah, providing visibility to the partnership that Eastern Health has with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the eastern region.
It is recommended that the artist assess the space and recommend an overall design that can bring a sense of warmth, colour, connection and calm to the spaces inside the unit as well as provide a linkage between areas. The budget for this project is $5,000. The project is required to be completed from January to 30th April 2025.
Artists interested in this commissioning appointment are requested to write a brief expression of interest letter addressing the key selection criteria to Anne Mennen, Site Director, Eastern Health Maroondah anne.mennen@easternhealth.org.au and provide a link to a portfolio of their past works. For more information on the project please contact Anne Mennen on 9871 3513.
Background Information

- The wall opposite the elevators is also a high traffic area with a direct view to the wall from each elevator.
- The artwork needs to complement the existing colour themes of the front entrance area, with cool/calm green colours. The colour template should be suggested by the artist in the initial design.
