Anniversary of the apology to Members of the Stolen Generations

Eastern Health acknowledges today, 13 February as the Anniversary of the Apology to Members of the Stolen Generations.

Today we recognise the profound harm caused by past government policies and the ongoing impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We recognise the intergenerational trauma experienced by the Stolen Generations and the enduring effects of forced removal, loss of culture, and disruption to family and community.
Eastern Health is committed to providing culturally safe environments for care to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

By engaging meaningfully with Elders and local community members, Eastern Health strives to strengthen practices that prioritise reconciliation, advance health equity and support the resilience and wellbeing of First Nations peoples.
