Spotlight on research

With more than 800 research projects currently active, Eastern Health is a leader in clinical research, translating into real-world benefits for patients and communities right across Australia.

While our core business is to provide excellent healthcare for the community, we invest significantly in research and innovation to ensure we achieve the best possible outcomes.

This year, key projects have included an Australian-first study into the effectiveness of 3D mammography, which showed significant improvements in breast cancer detection. We launched a trial with community pharmacies to help reduce the risk of harm from dangerous drug interactions, and we received a $1.2 million grant from Google to develop national suicide monitoring system.

This is cutting-edge research happening right here, within the walls of your local health services. It involves leadership and input from staff right across our organisation, and is conducted in a range of areas including mental health, maternity, cancer services, stroke, palliative care and allied health – all with the same vision to improve processes and outcomes.

Eastern Health will present 41 projects at our annual Research Forum this Thursday 5 December.
