Turning Point
Your gift will help peer workers like Oscar provide hope, connection and support.
I am a peer support worker at Turning Point with a lived experience of addiction.
I was 16 when I first attended detox, and attended multiple detoxes for two years until I found a treatment that stuck.
Committing to total abstinence and finding help through peer support was the most effective treatment for me.
I have been clean for 11 years and now work as a peer support worker.
I’m proud of the fact that I am in recovery and can help others.
I have a seven-year-old son, a long-term partner and close loving relationships that I never thought were possible.
I share this story with you in the hope of sending the message that addiction doesn’t discriminate. We should always be looking for the untold stories that sit behind someone’s addiction.
With the right treatment and supports in place, recovery is always possible.
As a peer support worker, I can directly contribute to someone’s recovery journey. My role involves providing hope, connection and support, helping people to engage with services and community groups.
Research has shown that peer support is an important component of effective treatment.
Your donation will contribute to people accessing peer support resources and activities.

How your donation will help
For example:
- $40 covers the cost of a recovery resource pack
A resource recovery pack is a vital initial source of information and engagement for a person seeking help, perhaps for the first time. - $200 funds a fortnight of one-on-one peer support sessions
One-on-one peer support ensures a person seeking help has a connection with someone who has been where they are and understands just how hard it can be to get control of an addiction. - $750 funds a bi-weekly peer support group for three months
Group support makes such a critical difference to a person seeking help. They can feel inspired and learn from the experiences of others in the group, build self-esteem and connection, and ultimately help others. - $5,000 covers a dedicated program of peer outreach and support
Certainty is such a critical part of the early help-seeking experience and this ensures people seeking help will know there’s a dedicated program with a team of support that will be there for them for the duration of their treatment needs.
Every dollar you give will help Turning Point transform lives and lead change for people affected by addiction.
Your donation is tax deductible. A tax receipt will be sent to you by email immediately after your donation is made.
The programs featured are examples of how your gift can make a huge difference. Your donation will go where it is needed most.
