Help us keep the fight against leukaemia, myeloma and amyloidosis!
An important message from Associate Professor Stephen Ting and Dr Simon Gibbs
As haematologists at Eastern Health, we want the best for all of our patients.
We know that haematological diseases such as leukaemia, myeloma and amyloidosis can have a devastating impact on patients and their families.
But there is always hope… More so now than ever before. New clinical trials and advances are paving the way for a brighter future.
Our clinical trials service provides patients access to new drugs, which would otherwise be unavailable, and participation in ground-breaking scientific advances.
We couldn’t be more proud of this service, and more honoured to look after our patients.
But you may wonder “what more could be done for patients?”
Our wish is to create a ‘one-stop-shop’ where specialist haematologists work together with dedicated specialist nurses, clinical trial services, dietitians and a psychologist, so that all patients receive the best holistic care at Eastern Health.
With your help, we hope to bring a Leukaemia and Clinical Trials Nurse into the service. The nurse will be entirely dedicated to patients with leukaemia, myeloma and amyloidosis.
This new nurse specialist role would be a great support for all patients in their respective journeys, and physicians during their consultations, in our rapidly expanding clinics and clinical trials portfolio.
It will also give our team additional leverage to progress promising clinical trials that will have an immediate impact on the quality of life for our patients.
As you may know, clinical trials are over and above our core funding and therefore largely dependent on alternative sources. Due to COVID-19, some of these sources are no longer available.
This is why your support is so important right now.
