Physiotherapists work in Acute Outpatient Physiotherapy Departments across Eastern Health assessing and treating patients, following hospital or emergency department admission, for recent injury or surgery.
Physiotherapists will assess and treat patients on an individual basis in the outpatient physiotherapy departments.Conditions treated will include soft tissue injuries, fractures following removal of plaster, acute back and neck pain, as well as rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery.
Referral as appropriate following Emergency Department or Ward admission.
The physiotherapist will assist patients to return to an improved level of function with a patient centred focus, which will include a treatment plan that takes into account a patient's lifestyle, leisure activities and general health. This will include advice on how patients can assist themselves - for example with exercise.
Physiotherapists are able to treat all ages at the Angliss hospital, and adults only at Box Hill and Maroondah hospital.
