Adult prevention and recovery care (PARC) services are short-term, residential treatment services located in the community. PARC aims to provide early intervention for people who are becoming unwell in the community with the hope of preventing admission to acute services. PARC also offers step down support to those who are in the early stages of their recovery following an acute admission with the aim of strengthening and consolidating gains from the inpatient setting.
Eastern Health and a Mental Health Community Organisation work in partnership and offer service to people and their families. The PARC team includes a multi-disciplinary team of Mental Health Clinicians, Community Mental Health Recovery Workforce, Occupational Therapist s and a Peer work force.
Each person will engage in an individual plan which will identify their hopes and recovery goals whilst in the PARC setting. The PARC team will also work in collaboration with an individual’s community supports and families to ensure continuity of care.
Adult persons aged 16 – 65 can be referred to PARC by the Eastern Health Service currently supporting them. PARC is a voluntary service and people considering a PARC stay would engage in an assessment to identify what they hope their stay would look like and to ascertain whether the PARC is the appropriate option at that time.
