A parenting resource kit
"Families and Mental Health: a parenting resource kit" is a practical resource for families and workers to assist parents to positively meet daily parenting challenges. It gives families information about parenting, support services and resources.
The parenting resource kit developed by the Department of Health (families & mental health) contains sections that can be selected and worked on together with the parent and the professional or it can be provided to the parent.
This resource kit is now out of print but the booklet, (booklet may take a few minutes to load) can be downloaded from the Department of Health website.

- Keeping Families and Children in Mind is a free self-directed online training resource developed for professionals who support families where a parent has a mental illness.
CHAMPS After School Program Facilitators Training
This is a one day training opportunity for anyone who is interested in running groups for children who have a parent with a mental illness. The next training will be held in October. For further details or if you would like to hold a training session in your local area please contact Bronwyn Sanders, FaPMI program support worker, on 0408 291580 or email bronwyn.sanders@easternhealth.org.au
The training will provide:
- An overview of the philosophy and reasons for CHAMPS After School Groups
- An introduction to the CHAMPS "Facilitators Guide"
- An explanation of how to implement the session plans
- On completion of the training all participants will be Eastern Health endorsed CHAMPS facilitators and able to commence working as a CHAMPS facilitator within their own service. A certificate of participation will be provided.
