Oncology Rehabilitation program information sheet (PDF 505KB)

- Participants attend twice a week for seven weeks. Each group session consists of one hour of tailored exercise, followed by one hour of information.
- Information sessions include practical topics such as Fatigue, Improving Sleep, and Nutrition, to the more psychosocial with an introduction of community services available such as Cancer Peer Support Programs, Feldenkrais and Art Therapy. All sessions are presented by specialist clinicians and allied health staff.
- Patients are welcome from various tumour streams and at various stages of treatment
- Sessions are provided in a supportive group environment at the Wantirna Health Community Rehabilitation Centre
- This is a client centred program where clients, carers and families are supported to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Eligibility Criteria
- The client resides in eastern suburbs of Melbourne within the Eastern Health catchment area
- Has a primary diagnosis of cancer
- Aged 18 years and over
- Current physical status allows for participation in the exercise component of the program
- Cognitive status allows for participation in the education component of the program

Cost
- $10.00 per session, capped at $20/week (effective from 1st March 2018)
- This cost can be discussed in the case of financial hardship
