Ambulatory Oncology Rehabilitation Program
"Before I started here I was ready to walk under a bus, but now I am gardening, exercising, cooking – I feel like I have my life back" – cancer survivor on the Ambulatory Oncology Rehabilitation Program.

Maintaining an active lifestyle is shaping up as the best medicine to combat fatigue in cancer patients, with a new Eastern Health program achieving fantastic results in its first round.
The Ambulatory Oncology Rehabilitation Program at Wantirna Health is one of a handful of programs in Australia that combines exercise with comprehensive self-help strategies. Each session combines one-hour of exercise with an information session on a range of strategies including returning to work, maintaining relationships and planning holidays.
Research shows that more than 70 per cent of cancer patients will experience fatigue during their illness. Since the implementation of this program, the feedback from cancer survivors has been overwhelmingly positive.
"I think this course should be mandatory for every cancer patient leaving hospital," said one participant.
