CONTINENCE CLINIC

The continence service is a multidisciplinary clinical service specialising in incontinence and other bladder and/or bowel function difficulties, providing assessment, diagnosis, management, education and support to improve incontinence for clients.

The clinic aims to:

• Provide an accessible service to all adults and/or their carers who suffer from incontinence and its consequences
• Achieve the outcome that best meets the needs of the client
• Increase community awareness of incontinence as a significant health and quality of life issue
• Encourage earlier intervention thus reducing the incidence and impact of incontinence in the future
• Provide a resource for health professionals and health workers

By providing:

• Comprehensive assessment
• Advice and education
• Specialised investigations
• Individualised management plans
• Home visits as indicated (Burwood East only)
• Information and resource centre
• Pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation
• Assistance with funding applications
• Carer advice and assistance
