Eastern Health will be accepting applications from International Students for the Graduate program (Division 1 Registered Nurse) in 2009. These applications will only apply for the acute programs.
All Eastern Health Graduate Programs include:
- A minimum of 5 study days
- 3 rotations
- Supernumerary time at each rotation
- Preceptors in all areas
- Educators in all areas
- Opportunity for specialty rotations
- Employment opportunities throughout Eastern Health upon completion of a graduate program including:
– Entry into Specialty Practice Programs (ESP Programs)
– Post graduate opportunities
Intake dates:
There are two main intakes per year. Intake dates for 2009 are as follows:
- Monday 2nd February 2009
- Monday 2nd March 2009
Successful International applicants will be offered a position in one of the three (3) Eastern Health entry point hospitals:
• Angliss Hospital
• Box Hill Hospital (includes Peter James Centre & Wantirna Health)
• Maroondah Hospital

Eastern Health Requirements for Sponsorship:
- A working visa clearance is required for all persons entering Australia who do not hold either an Australian or New Zealand passport.
- Any applicant appointed from within Australia must obtain a working visa clearance before commencing duties.
- Each applicant must have Australian private health insurance for themselves and any dependants for the duration of employment with Eastern Health. To be sighted prior to commencement of employment
Application process – Information required with your application
• All international applications must apply to Eastern Health – not to individual campuses.
• Once your CV and application documents have been accepted you will receive a letter confirming that your application has been received
• Applicants who are successful in obtaining an interview will be notified by mail with an interview date and time.
• Positions to international applicants will not be offered until after the computer match results have been released – This occurs on the 20th October 2008
• If vacant positions are available in Eastern Health at this time you will be notified if your application has been successful.

Interview process
• Group Interview
• The panel will consist of a representative of each Eastern Health Graduate Program
• We try to provide a relaxed, friendly atmosphere
• Interviews will be conducted on the 7th & 9th of October
• Please try to be on time
• If you are unable to attend your interview for any reason please call ASAP to reschedule for another time
• The interview will take approximately 20-30 minutes
• International graduates may be asked to undertake a secondary individual panel interview at one of the hospitals prior to being considered for a position

Successful application
- International applicants will be notified if they are successful in obtaining a position
- after the computer match results have been released & if there are unmatched positions available
- If you are successfully matched to Eastern Health we will phone and confirm this with you
- You will also receive this information in writing
- We will inform you which campus you have been successful in obtaining a position at
- We will mail you all the details pertaining to your employment including contract, uniform details and your commencement date and sponsorship requirements that will need to be completed prior to commencement in the program
- You will need to ensure that you have registered with the Nurses Board of Victoria prior to commencing your Graduate program

An Information Session for international students interested in undertaking the Graduate Nurse Program at Eastern Health will be held at:

Thursday 17th July 2008 commencing at 6.30pm
Alternatively each hospital entry point will be conducting information sessions as well. These are outlined below:

Current Graduates will be in attendance to answer questions as well as educators and Graduate Coordinators of each campus. Tours of the hospital will also be conducted.
If you are unable to attend any of the information sessions, tours of the hospital can be arranged. Please contact the Graduate Coordinator to discuss this option.
