Activities undertaken to promote the Patient Charter

• Inclusion of a copy of the Charter into the employment orientation package for each new medical officer

• Inclusion of a copy of the Charter into the employment orientation package for each new nurse

• A copy of the Charter is forwarded in the mail, with the admission details, to each patient scheduled for elective procedures/surgery

• Placement of the brochures and posters in strategic places throughout the Hospital and its satellite services

• Inclusion of the Charter in the content of the Orientation presentation given at all new staff orientations

• A presentation is currently being discussed whereby a speaker from DHS will come to Eastern Health to present the Charter in terms of its genesis, community input, implications for patient care, and the quality process instigated by DHS to determine the effectiveness of the Charter.
