At the Diabetes Education Centre we see clients who have been diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus. We educate clients (and carers, as appropriate) on how Diabetes may affect their feet, as well as educating clients on strategies to help prevent foot complications associated with Diabetes. We provide clients with the recommended six or twelve monthly Diabetes foot assessment, which consists of a neurovascular assessment. We do not provide ongoing general foot care, though we can provide referral to alternative service providers as appropriate.
At Maroondah Hospital we see inpatients that are referred to our service by medical or nursing staff for treatment and management of foot and ankle conditions.
The High Risk Foot Clinic, run weekly in the Outpatients department of Maroondah Hospital, is a multidisciplinary clinic where the Podiatry department sees clients whose health status places their feet at risk of ulceration and/or amputation. We provide treatment and management of these clients with a holistic approach.
