Description of Service

The department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management provides a safe and efficient anaesthetic service for Maroondah Hospital. It provides the inpatients of Maroondah Hospital with a competent and reliable pain service. It also teaches and informs other staff of Maroondah Hospital and the general public in anaesthesia and pain management. We promote and undertake research in anaesthesia and pain management and conform and keep up to date with the standards of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and the Accreditation Council.

Services Provided

• Anaesthetic services and pain management consultations for inpatients at Maroondah Hospital
• Pre-operative anaesthetic consultations to outpatients at Maroondah Hospital through the Pre-Admission Anaesthetic Clinic
• Teaching and training commitment to medical students, nursing staff, anaesthetic registrars and all medical staff

Staff

The department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management staff include:

• Director
• Staff Anaesthetists
• Visiting Medical Officers
• Registrars / Anaesthetic Registrar rotations from the Alfred Hospital, St Vincent's Hospital and the Austin
• Registrar employed by Maroondah for 1 year
• Registrar employed on internal rotation by Maroondah Hospital.
