Ante Natal Education

A comprehensive ante-natal education programme covering all aspects of birth, breast-feeding and parenting is offered by our midwives in a friendly atmosphere. The classes are presently conducted on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and run for 5 weeks. These classes give you the opportunity to meet staff and other expectant parents.

Midwife Shared Care Program

This is a program where your ante-natal visits are attended by midwives at the hospital and includes 2 visits by you to your G.P. Your labour, birth and post-natal care are all attended by midwives with the doctor being available if there are any complications. Doctor to provide 6 week post natal check of mother and babe.

General Practitioner Care

You will be cared for by one of our 3 obstetric G.P's who may or may not be your family doctor. Your doctor provides all ante-natal care in his rooms, is called to attend the birth and provides follow up care in hospital as well as the post natal 6 week check of mother and babe.

Booking into Hospital

Once you have decided on your G.P. they will give you a Maternity Registration Form for you to complete and return to the hospital. You need to make an appointment with the midwife to have a 'booking in' interview.

Birth Suite

We have one birthing suite which has all the necessities for a relaxed labour and birth. Our experienced staff will support and guide you through labour and birth.

Post Natal Ward

In the post natal area there is one two bed ward and 2 single rooms with a relaxing garden aspect. TV's are available at a small charge and 24hr rooming in is encouraged. Post Natal Education is provided by staff and educational videos.

Visiting hours are 2 - 4:30pm and 6 - 8pm

Domicillary Care

All mothers who are admitted here are entitled to home visits from a midwife. This service operates 7 days per week. The midwife checks the progress of both the mother and baby and gives help and advice in the familiar surroundings of home.

Breast Feeding Clinic

This clinic operates on Tuesdays at Yarra Junction and Thursdays at Healesville. A lactation consultant operates these clinics for those needing extra support and assistance with breast feeding.
