Where the use of ionising radiation in the research project is identical to that of standard clinical care (as determined by the Principal Investigator and an Eastern Health Radiation Safety Officer) then a completed Module 4 only is required for ethics submission with your project.
Where the procedures involving ionising radiation are in addition to standard clinical care(as determined by the Principal Investigator and an Eastern Health Radiation Safety Officer) then a Victorian DHS authorised Medical Physicist must assess the ionising radiation component of the research project.
An authorised Medical Physicist only can provide a radiation risk statement for the Participant Information & Consent Form.
If submitting an assessment report from another institution’s authorised Medical Physicist please make sure this report is consistent with Eastern Health practice.
If standard clinical care is determined then do not submit assessment reports from an authorised Medical Physicist from another institution.
