RPC LogoAn Advance Care Planning Program

Respecting Patient Choices (RPC) is an advance care planning program that assists individuals, families and health professionals in making decisions about future medical treatment. It focuses on developing a system of training, practices, and policies so that effective advance care planning and end-of-life decision making becomes the routine - the expected care - throughout the Eastern Health community.

Mission Statement

"Decision-making about life sustaining medical treatment will be improved if all people are better informed about the realities and possibilities of modern medicine; assisted in making choices about future treatment should they become incapacitated; and assisted in communicating their values, feelings and choices to those who care most about them, including health professionals who provide their care."

Advance Care Planning speaks for you when you cannot, guiding the difficult decisions that your loved ones may have to make, and ensures respect for your integrity, individuality and autonomy.
