Diabetes
Education is a service that empowers people living with
diabetes, their family and carers to manage their condition
on a day-to-day basis. It may be provided in an inpatient,
outpatient or community health setting.
A
wide variety of different health professionals are often
involved in providing education and may include:

- Podiatrist

Mission:
Eastern
Health Diabetes Education Services will provide high quality,
accessible services that are responsive to the needs of
the community.
In
general, Diabetes Education aims to:
- Provide
education for people with diabetes aimed at improving
their knowledge and understanding in all areas of diabetes.
e.g. medical, dietary, foot care, exercise
- Emphasise
practical application of knowledge as it relates to an
individual's behaviour and lifestyle
- Motivate
clients to accept responsibility for self care
- Provide
an opportunity for people with diabetes, their families
and/or friends to interact and provide support for each
other
